Special Agent in Charge
Mr. Jacobs joined the FBI as a special agent in 2003 and was assigned to the New York Field
Office to work government and financial fraud and, later, violent crimes and gangs. He was
promoted to supervisory special agent in 2014 and transferred to the Criminal Investigative
Division (CID) at Headquarters (HQ). During his time at HQ, Mr. Jacobs also served in the
acting roles of Unit Chief for the International Violent Crimes Unit and Special Assistant to
the Assistant Director of CID.

In 2016, he was named a violent gangs task force squad supervisor in the Los Angeles Field
Office. In addition to his role as squad supervisor, Mr. Jacobs served as the program
coordinator for the Violent Gangs threat where he oversaw seven (7) Safe Streets Task
Forces.

In 2018, Mr. Jacobs was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of the Mission
Support Branch of the Newark Field Office. In this role, Mr. Jacobs managed the field
office’s administration and human resources, training and recruitment, technical and
financial operations, outreach and security, and other programs.

Mr. Jacobs was named section chief of the Counterintelligence Division’s Counterintelligence
Training and Strategy Section in December of 2019 where he led the National
Counterintelligence Task Force (NCITF) as part of the Counterintelligence Division at FBIHQ.

Mr. Jacobs currently serves as the special agent in charge for the Washington Field Office’s
Criminal and Cyber Division and has served in this role since September of 2021.

Mr. Jacobs earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware and a master's
degree from Columbia University. Before he joined the FBI, he was a trading systems
analyst.
